KirjoSwing
We are the KirjoSwing ensemble, a swinging group of 12 singers, performing both á cappella and with a band.
Our repertoire consists of compositions by Duke Ellington, Cole Porter, Chick Corea, among the others. Most of these challenging songs have been arranged by our former conductor Kari Veisterä and our contemporary conductor Jaana Raivio. We also have some original arrangements of classics such as “A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square” or ”The Boy From New York City” by Manhattan Transfer.
KirjoSwing has wide experience in performing, both locally and internationally: Germany, France, Estonia, Turkey, Russia and Italy. We have been doing music(+ acting&dancing) in several plays in the Oulu City Theatre, for example “The Wonder of Milan” (based on a book “Toto il Buono” by Cesare Zavattini) and Albatrossi ja Heiskanen(2009-10) .
